How property tax protests work in Dallas County
DCAD's uFile system is the only way to file a protest electronically in Dallas County. The review board will not accept protests by fax or email. Once a protest and evidence are in, a DCAD appraiser reviews them and usually reaches out by phone or email before the hearing, and many residential neighborhoods are eligible for an online settlement offer.
That appraiser review is the first real negotiation, so the evidence has to be in and organized before it happens. We submit a complete packet at filing so the first number the district sees is ours.
