How property tax protests work in Tarrant County

Under the reappraisal plan TAD adopted in 2024, residential values were held at 2024 levels for the 2025 and 2026 tax years, and residential reappraisal moves to odd years starting in 2027. That makes 2027 a reappraisal year: expect new residential values across Tarrant County next spring, and plan to protest them.

A frozen value was never a frozen bill. Taxing units still set rates every year, and some owners received a postcard instead of a full notice. Either way, the right to protest applies.

When values reset, mass appraisal tends to overshoot in both directions across neighborhoods. We compare your new value against recent sales and against how similar homes nearby were valued, which is where most Tarrant County reductions come from.

How we handle your Tarrant County protest

Step 1

Two minutes and two signatures. We file the state's agent appointment form with TAD.

Step 2

We build the case

When your notice arrives, we file on market value and unequal appraisal and request TAD's evidence.

Step 3

We negotiate and attend

We work the informal stage with TAD, then the Tarrant County ARB if the offer isn't right.

Step 4

You save

Once values are final, we invoice 25% of that year's tax savings. No reduction, no invoice.

Tarrant County protest questions

Tarrant County froze residential values. Should I still protest?
Often, yes. A value held at 2024 levels can still be above today's market, and unequal appraisal is a separate ground the freeze doesn't affect.
What changes in 2027?
Under TAD's plan, 2027 is a residential reappraisal year, so most homeowners will see new values in their spring notice. Sign up before then and we file as soon as the notice arrives.
When is the Tarrant County protest deadline?
May 15, or 30 days after your notice of appraised value is delivered, whichever is later.
